NOT JUST IN A MANNER OF SPEAKING…

Product Environmental Certifications

There is much more behind the development of high-tech solutions that improve the comfort and efficiency of plumbing and heating systems

We want our products to contribute to the collective good: thinking about the future means putting people, the environment, the social fabric at the centre. And we want this vision to be an integral part of our core business: for us, it is, to all intents and purposes, one of the most important strengths of all the solutions we design and propose to the market.

This is why we want to explain in detail why our products are sustainable: we believe this is one of the most important reasons for choosing Valsir.

EPD certification

Every year, we invest a considerable portion of our turnover in improving our energy profile, our production processes and reducing the environmental impact of our products.

Among the initiatives we have put in place, the voluntary EPD certification process of our products is of enormous importance.

The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) describes the impact linked to the production of a good starting from its technological premises (use of raw materials, energy consumption linked to production, production of waste, etc.), going on to analyse the entire life cycle of the product, including its disposal and decommissioning.

From our point of view, this decision is highly strategic, as it allows us to become fully aware of the industrial, economic and environmental implications of our work and, of course, to make specific choices to adapt our company policy to the principles of the circular economy.

In fact, 'product sustainability' is an increasingly topical issue, which we are certain will give more and more value to our solutions, both technologically and commercially.

This is why we have obtained EPD certification on the PP3, Triplus and Blackfire drainage systems, on the Pexal multilayer water supply pipes and their fittings Pexal Easy, Bravopress and Pexal Brass, and on the Tropea S flush cistern, and we are constantly working to extend certification to many other product ranges.

Green Building Council

The World Green Building Council is an international network that works with companies, organisations and governments to promote a strongly sustainability-oriented approach to construction, with the aim of guiding the sector towards achieving the emission targets set by the Paris Agreement on climate change.

Under the supervision of the Green Building Council of Singapore, we wanted to 'measure' the sustainability of our Triplus and HDPE waste systems in order to obtain certification.

The aspects that are considered for the awarding of the Green Building label refer to the company processes (e.g. energy, resource and waste management policies and the monitoring of the company's Carbon Footprint) and the entire production chain, including the recyclability of products, installation methods and the plant solutions for which the products are intended.

The production of Triplus and HDPE takes place in our plant in Vobarno (BS), which is already energy class A certified. Furthermore, the two systems are made of completely recyclable material.

As far as installation is concerned, neither solution involves the use of mastics or adhesives, or any other potentially harmful chemical substance. For HDPE joints are created by welding at a low voltage or, for Triplus with a push-fit connection socket with a watertight seal.

The two ranges allow waste and drainage systems to be constructed with a single waste stack (and therefore without the need for a second ventilation pipe) thanks to the use of special VBF fittings (Ventilation Branch Fitting - VBF).

Lastly, siphonic drainage systems based on Rainplus technology can be created using the HDPE system, which are designed for the collection and reuse of rainwater.

Thanks to these characteristics, Triplus and HDPE are now the only waste systems in the world to be rated 'Very Good' in the Green Building Council's rating system.
