MIXAL
THE UNIVERSAL MULTILAYER SYSTEM
DOCUMENTS AND RESOURCES
Mixal is a system consisting of multilayer pipes and different types of fittings suitable for any plumbing and heating system.
Thanks to its extreme flexibility, it is the ideal product for the construction of radiant floor, wall and ceiling heating and cooling systems. Due to its excellent performance, it is used in the distribution of hot and cold drinking water, radiator and convector heating systems, and industrial systems, including compressed air distribution.
Mixal multilayer pipes combine the advantages of synthetic materials (and in particular of cross-linked polyethylene such as resistance to abrasion, corrosion and chemicals, and hygiene) with those of aluminium such as resistance to high temperatures and pressures, dimensional stability, impermeability to oxygen and light, and low thermal expansion.
The range consists of pipes supplied in bars and in coils of various lengths, from 50 m up to 500 m.
The pipes can also be supplied with protective corrugated red or blue sheathing and pre-insulated with grey, blue or red self-extinguishing sheathing.
The numerous solutions offered by the different types of fittings means it can respond to any installation requirement, also offering a wide choice of manifolds, taps, accessories and bracket collars.
The synergy of materials
The Mixal multilayer system combines the advantages of cross-linked polyethylene PE-Xb with those of aluminium. The cross-linked polyethylene PE-Xb in the internal layer in contact with the transported fluid guarantees excellent mechanical, physical and chemical properties, and the butt-welded aluminium tube accentuates the mechanical resistance by introducing excellent flexibility and ductility characteristics, which are fundamental for speeding up and simplifying the laying process.
The result is a product made up of different layers of material bonded together to achieve excellent properties that cannot be achieved by pipes made of just one material.
The Mixal system is manufactured in accordance with EN ISO 21003 standards and its reliability and quality is guaranteed by the strictest approval bodies, which monitor and verify its performance on a regular basis at the production plants in Italy.
ADVANTAGES OF
THE MIXAL SYSTEM
RESISTANT TO CORROSION
The high resistance to corrosion, building materials and major chemical compounds allows the Mixal system to be used for a variety of civil and industrial applications (even in seismic areas, thanks to its extreme flexibility and vibration dampening capacity).
EXCELLENT FLEXIBILITY
The combination of cross-linked polyethylene and aluminium guarantees excellent flexibility during bending (even by hand) and long-term shape stability. Furthermore, the extreme smoothness inside prevents the formation of fouling and limits pressure losses.
SOUND INSULATION
The elasticity of cross-linked polyethylene provides excellent vibration absorption and therefore excellent sound insulation.
GUARANTEED FOR 50 YEARS
The system has a guaranteed product durability of at least 50 years, during which time its use is permitted at pressures of 10 bar and maximum operating temperatures of up to 95°C.
SUITABLE FOR DRINKING WATER
The system is certified for the transport of food fluids and drinking water. Furthermore, the butt-welded aluminium layer forms a total barrier to oxygen and light, and therefore to algae growth and corrosion of the metal parts of the system.
COMPLETE RANGE
Mixal is available in diameters from 14 mm to 32 mm. The range of fittings (available in both metal and technopolymer materials), accessories and related equipment is extremely wide and allows any requirement to be covered.
THERMAL EXPANSION
The thermal expansion that normally affects the pipe in operation is about 8 times less than that of plastic pipes and is comparable to that of metal pipes.
ECO-SUSTAINABILITY
Mixal is manufactured from fully recyclable materials that can be recycled at the end of their life. The production processes used are energy efficient and low impact, following Green Building principles, with a view to respecting the environment and conserving resources.
