In the area of water supply, the use of innovative materials and technologies is an exceptional development both when it comes to system performance and the simplification of installation procedures.

PexalEasy is a system of fittings in PPSU used for plumbing systems, heating, cooling and refrigeration systems, as well as in industrial systems – especially in compressed air systems. The range of diameters available, from 14 to 75 mm, underlines the exceptional versatility of this family of products.

Designed for the Pexal multilayer system, it ensures the “full bore” of fluids (with a 30% increase in performance), avoiding the task of reducing the section of bore typical of traditional screw and press fittings.

How to install Pexal Easy?

The installation of PexalEasy is based on the socketing process, that is, the preparation of the Pexal pipe using a special tool to widen the diameter of the section of pipe that will adhere to the hose barb. The connection performed with this system also makes it impossible for the pipe to come away from the fitting.

To note, however, is that not all multilayer pipes are appropriate for this procedure: only the particular ratio between the thickness of the materials (reticulated polyethylene, adhesive and aluminium) and the high manufacturing quality of the Pexal range allow the expansion of the pipe from the inside without affecting the physical characteristics of the multilayer.

The first advantage of the “full bore” is the drastic reduction in pressure loss. But PexalEasy also assures the total absence of oxidation and corrosion, and boasts excellent chemical and mechanical resistance (and therefore resistance to wear and damage).

Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) is a high-performing technopolymer: initially utilised for automotive applications and in the aerospace and medical industry, its use has become increasingly common in plumbing and the naval industry, since it can be installed without any difficulty also in direct contact with salt water.

System solutions

With these excellent characteristics, the “ideal” application of the system is naturally for the conveyance of drinking water, as indicate the certifications obtained by PexalEasy in this sector. In fact, the system proves impeccable also in the application of disinfection treatments, for example to prevent legionella.

Apart from the field of application, however, the advantages of using PexalEasy are clear also when it comes to its easy installation. Not only is the installation of fittings quick and simple after getting experience in pipe socketing, but all fittings can be disassembled and reused with the obvious implications.

Its lower cost is also a determining factor in the progressive use of technopolymer solutions, which seem destined to gain ground with respect to metal fittings, especially in the supply of drinking water.
